Vapor Hard Thin Film Coatings
For Ferrous & Non-Ferrous Metals and Alloys

Critical Factors For Processing Series 600 Coatings

Surfaces That Are Best For Coating

Finely ground surfaces, free of grinding burns, are best for achieving optimum coating adhesion and performance.

Surface Condition Before Coating

The surface must be bright and free of rust, paint, wax, polishing compounds, and layout die. The residue on nitrided surfaces must be removed.

Heat Treatment Before Coating

Due to the elevated processing temperatures (to 950°F), we recommend a triple temper or draw heat treatment prior to Endura® coating to ensure that dimensional and structural integrity is maintained.

Coating and Masking

The components must be held for coating; therefore, they must have holes, threads or surfaces that can remain uncoated. It is possible to mask surfaces.

  • Resists wear and abrasion up to 12 times better
    than stainless steel.
  • Provides a smooth, dense, ultra-hard coating (to 90 Rc).
  • Provides enhanced non-stick (release) properties.
  • No dimensional change - standard thickness of 1-2 micro meters.
  • Provides good corrosion resistance.
